Dear all, doing this tests is quite demanding and takes a lot of time. The results can be quite fascinanting and can serve as point-of-start for any future ideas.
Equipment used:
Camera Sony A6300 with 1.53x crop factor
Microscope Optika Inverted XDS-2
Objectives PLAN from microscope 4x, 10x Phase, 20x Phase, 40x
Extra objectives: 20xPlan, 40xNeofluor, 40xNikon DL Phase3
Eyepieces for photography: 1- Nikon MCA and 2- 9.6x adapter (eBay)
Raynox: DCR250, MSN202, MSN500
Microscope Optika Inverted XDS-2
Type tests done to all objectives:
1. BF - Bright Field
2. PC - Phase Contrast filter 10/20 (included with microscope)
3. BF with Raynox 250
4. PC with Raynox 250
3. BF with Raynox MSN202
4. PC with Raynox MSN202
3. BF with Raynox MSN500
4. PC with Raynox MSN500
Raynox lenses are attached to the bottom of the light source as it clips very well.
Quite difficult to decide how to start so I decided to go first with the lower magnification 4x PLAN and all the results achieved.
4X PLAN with Sony A6300 and Eyepiece Nikon MCA
Bright Field (1/1000 ISO125)
Phase Contrast (1/60 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox 250 (1/800 ISO125)
Phase Contrast
+ Raynox 250 (1/10 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN202 (1/400 ISO125)
NOTE: Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN202 doesn't work
Bright Field + Raynox MSN500 (1/200 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN500 (1/10 ISO125)
4X PLAN with Sony A6300 and Eyepiece 9.6x (eBay)
Bright Field (1/250 ISO125)
Phase Contrast (1/160 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox 250 (1/1600 ISO125)
Phase Contrast
+ Raynox 250 (1/20 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN202 (1/640 ISO125)
NOTE: Same here, Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN202 doesn't work
Bright Field + Raynox MSN500 (1/400 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN500 (1/20 ISO125)
So far we could notice that the Nikon eyepiece gives a higher magnification in comparison to the 9.6x adapter from eBay. Interesting results with the Raynox 250 giving a sort of Dark Field result.
Will post the results to the other objectives very soon!
Happy New Year to all!
10X PLAN PHASE with Sony A6300 and Eyepiece Nikon MCA
Bright Field (1/1000 ISO125)
Phase Contrast (1/13 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox 250 (1/400 ISO125)
Phase Contrast
+ Raynox 250 (1/30 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN202 (1/100 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN202 (1/4 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN500 (1/60 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN500 (.5s ISO125)
10X PLAN PHASE with Sony A6300 and Eyepiece 9.6x (eBay)
Bright Field (1/250 ISO125)
Phase Contrast (1/20 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox 250 (1/1000 ISO125)
Phase Contrast
+ Raynox 250 (1/80 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN202 (1/200 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN202 (1/10 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN500 (1/100 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN500 (1/4 ISO125)
Not much to say here but we all know that any 10x PLAN objective gives amazing results! And even better if its APO! But too expensive for me :P
20X PLAN PHASE with Sony A6300 and Eyepiece Nikon MCA
Bright Field (1/400 ISO125)
Phase Contrast (1/4 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox 250 (1/125 ISO125)
Phase Contrast
+ Raynox 250 (1/13 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN202 (1/40 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN202 (.8s ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN500 (1/13 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN500 (1.6s ISO125)
20X PLAN PHASE with Sony A6300 and Eyepiece 9.6x (eBay)
Bright Field (1/100 ISO125)
Phase Contrast (1/8 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox 250 (1/400 ISO125)
Phase Contrast
+ Raynox 250 (1/25 ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN202 (1/60 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN202 (.4s ISO125)
Bright Field + Raynox MSN500 (1/30 ISO125)
Phase Contrast + Raynox MSN500 (.8s ISO125)
Like the 10x PLAN PHASE we have very good results with this 20x PLAN PHASE objective that comes with this microscope. Differences in magnification is due to the eyepiece used for photography.
